Drinking water advisory for people with compromised immune systems
People with compromised immune systems should avoid drinking water from surface water sources unless it has been boiled, filtered, distilled or treated with UV. Bowen Island and other areas in British Columbia use surface water sources (lakes, rivers, streams).
Expressions of Interest for housing development on Community Lands

New building regulations in 2022
Bowen Island Municipality has adopted an amendment to the Land Use Bylaw, in Bylaw No. 528, 2020. These changes will come into effect on January 1, 2022 and will include changes to definitions used in Building Permit Applications, including changing definitions for Lot Coverage, Floor Area, and Average and Finished Grade calculations.

Residential guest accommodations require a business licence
Residential Guest Accommodations (RGA) are permitted on Bowen Island to contribute to the accommodation sector and local economy. They are regulated to ensure operator accountability and to minimize impacts on residential neighbourhoods and long term housing. RGA operators are required to have a valid business licence.
